Subliminal Dialogues – Experiencing Archetypes in popular culture
An experiment with psychoanalytical concepts of Dr.Carl Gustav Jung and archetypal presences of ancient India.
The archetypal sounds of India are extracted for their semiotic value, from its modern filtered and highly degraded versions in Mainstream Indian Cinema. These sound components from each decade, are then igned to a framework of nine Indian “rasas” (emotional archetypes). They are then triggered by participant over an unrelated film from a completely foreign genre to experience the evidence of collective unconscious, in the realm of the psycho-social mirror that is film.
