By the way, I tried to avoid instrumental albums.

I’ll do a separate list lately.
@B.k.S: I did that mainly because I prefer it over it. Sorry for the absurdness there.

@Crystal: It’s my top RHH albums. Reason why it’s in RHH.

I can do one of these for rock too.
@Tyrone:

R.E.B.I.R.T.H in my opinion is better than S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M because it has my favorite One Be Lo tracks on it.

"Born & Raised"
"War"
"Don’t Sleep"
"Gray" (Which is my favorite One Be Lo song)
"Hip Hop Heaven"

Albums that surprised me: #2, #15, #20, #28, #31, #36, #44, #65, #78, #80.

A Piece of Strange is also my favorite album, and Game Theory is also my favorite Roots album.

Unless I missed it, I’m f*cking shocked that you didn’t put any Qwel or Sage Francis albums on here.

Shame, shame, shame for not having Die, Rugged Man, Die on here. Lol nah.

My top five would consist of:

1. A Piece of Strange – Cunninlynguists

2. I Phantom – Mr. Lif

3. ATLiens – Outkast

4. Project: F.E.T.U.S. – One Be Lo

5. The Ugly Truth – Prolyphic & Reanimator

You get a ten for originality and dopeness.

Really nice list. It’s a breath of fresh air not seeing "1. Illmatic 2. Paid In Full 3. Ready to Die" etc.

Also, I had no idea you thought so highly of One Day It’ll All Make Sense.

*stars*

>_> several recommendations for me in here..

Nice

31. He’s The Rapper, I’m the DJ – Fresh Prince & DJ Jazzy Jeff
32. Illmatic – Nas

I really like Fresh Prince as a rapper and think he gets a bad rap from a bunch of hip hop fans who have never bothered to even listen to him spit. However, this is just absurd.

Anyways, I think I might do one of these too when I find the time. Although One Day It’ll All Make Sense and A Piece of Strange are in my top 10 as well so it will seem a lot less original.

So you only listen to rap huh
References :

Good list, but I’ll have to cosign with BKS on Will Smith’s album being about Illmatic. Although, it is different from most lists. Usually people put it as number one. I’ll be checking some of the albums from this list out.

Well, it’s certainly original

I like it. But why REBIRTH over SONOGRAM?

Fair enough.. Gray and Hip Hop Heaven are a couple of my favorites from him as well.

nah that list needs to be rearanged a lil bit and some otha albums should be in ther

Dope list. Mine would probably have like 50 of those in there.

Awesome list, I appreciate you sharing this. I was just thinking today how Pigeon John is one of my favorite rappers and he’s so underrated.
I would have added "Low End Theory" by ATCQ, cause it influenced most of the other albums on the list. I would also add Black Moon’s "Enta Da Stage" and Busta Rhyme’s "The Coming".

Pretty good, creative list. Some people (the chronic) just use generic lists as their top albums.
References :
Watch out, The Chronic is about to steal this to use for his next Top 100 Albums list.

Nice list man,especially #1…f*ck yeah!

Everything else is pretty good and original.

Now i have more stuff i gotta listen to.

you need eminems recovery in their :P
References :

I’ve never heard of half of those artists..i do like the eminem, tupac, busta rhymes, and wu tang clan but idk maybe its just cuz those artists were before my time (im only 18).

great list, love it
References :

Damn can’t believe there’s no pete rock or J dilla on this list.. they should definitely replace eminem & atmosphere lol
References :

I don’t mind the He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper pick, but having it as the highest ranked (and only) album from the 80s makes me want to throw up.
Spelling I Phantom like it’s an Apple product made me throw up in my mouth a little.
I personally don’t like the lack of influential albums, but if you don’t take influence into consideration, it’s cool.
