Is it illogical to believe in things like souls and soul-mates?

By · July 2, 2010 · Filed in Soul Mates

As illogical as believing in gods/goddesses and religions?

YES

It is illogical to believe ANYTHING without sufficient evidence.

Souls, ghosts, tooth fairies, santa claus, god all have NO proof.

Yes.

Depends how you define them. If by ‘soul-mate’ you mean someone with whom you fall absolutely in love with then that’s not illogical.

Why not? Many people believe in ghosts. Aren’t they supernatural?

I actually find it comical because many Christians don’t believe in ghosts or hauntings yet they believe in God. And many people believe in ghosts but they may not believe in God.

Of course, those ghost hunter people are just as weird..

i dont really think so

a soul doesnt necessarily mean a ghost type thing…a soul can also refer to the bodies energy in general

as for soul mate…i think yes but everyones going to have at least one person they think theyre perfect for and with :-p

Well, you have to believe in reincarnation in order to believe in soul mates. If someone wants to believe in that or gods and goddesses then that’s fine with me, I care nothing for a persons personal beliefs as long as they don’t proselytize to me.

i dont think it’s illogical. In fact, it seems logical in a sense. There my dad majored in neuroscience and he said that none of his professors, including in PhD professors, could explain where consciousness and thinking comes from. there is no evidence that supports it being anything related to your brain and neurological activity. So there are many who are starting to think that there is something extra that governs consciousness. That doesn’t mean they believe in God, but they may believe in something like a soul.

As for soul mates, i do believe that everyone has a second half that is perfect for them and will make them become the best that they can be.

Soul is the point of awareness of your existence. Nothing you have to believe in. Are you aware right now?

yes

There is no logic is making assumptions in the absence of evidence

No. If you have met yours then you know soul-mates are real. If you haven’t, then I hope you find them. As far as gods/goddesses…. some things have to be believed to be seen.

I wish. But doesn’t happen . Not with me anyway. Stayed with the same woman for years then she just left.

If you haven’t met yours yet then you will think it’s illogical.
When you have_you will know! and the pain of losing them

I think you can have more than one soul-mate (my opinion)

It may be illogical, but I believe it is true. My spirit/soul has been outside my body, so I know that much is true. I think I met my soul-mate one time long, long ago, but I did something really stupid & we were not together very long. I am told (by a psychiatrist) that we can have more than one soul-mate. If so, I never met another one. As I said, I did something really, really stupid as I was also very young (age 17). Next time, if there is one ever, (maybe in a next life?) then I shall treat it as the precious thing that it is.

(Now the numbers are reversed…I am 71. I have had many years to ponder it.)
