If Criticism of Islam is Limited to What Muslims Do or Did, What Does it Say About Basic Islamic Beliefs?

By · July 31, 2009 · Filed in Limiting Beliefs

That means that even critics acknowledge that the basic tenets of Islam are strong and cannot be easily questioned or criticized. By the way, I am including Prophet Muhammad among those Muslims.
Natassia, you are not making any sense. If you are shooting the messenger, but the message is getting through, it means that the messenger must have been right regardles of his flaws, doesn’t it?

i wish people took basic tenets of islam and incorporated in their daily life and belief.
but the big problem is majority take bulk of their belief is based on hadith books by bukhary and co ! and they practice those beliefs.non muslims see them following those beliefs and practices, and question them !

The basic tenets of Islam are so strong that anti_Islamic polemics in their desperation to try and somehow discredit Islam, had to look at secondary aspects to try and ferment the idea that Islam is false, they’ve failed miserably

But the basic tenets of Islam are based on the words and actions of one man….Muhammad.

So even if the criticism of Islam is limited to just Muhammad, it still means the basic tenets of Islam are not strong.

If monotheism was all that matters, everyone could just believe in Judaism. The problem is, Islam rests not upon the shoulders of Allah but instead on the shoulders of its prophet Muhammad.

EDIT: Ummmm…..Adolf Hitler wrote Mein Kampf (My Struggle).

He is dead. He was an evil man. But his book still resides in libraries and private bookshelves today. Does that make his message good? Does the fact that his words are still read today make him a good man?

Your edit to Natassia is ridiculous, "the message is getting through, it means that the messenger mush have been right", hogwash. What about Jim Jones and David Koresh, their message got through to their followers, but that didn’t make it the word of God. The problem is that all Muslims don’tonly follow the basic tenets that you are talking about such as charity, love, modesty and devotion to family and God, they also follow the evils of Islam. Haven’t you read the numerous articles about rich old men giving money to poor parents in order to marry then little girls? Muslims state this was acceptable during the lifetime of Muhammed, well that was 1400 years ago so why is it still going on. What about the terrorists, they say they are doing what the Quran tells them and if you read the parts of the Quran that they are talking about you’ll see they are doing exactly what it says to do.

As someone else said it’s not the basic tenets we need to be worrying about it’s all the other parts of Islam that cause concern. If Muhammed had taught what Jesus taught you wouldn’t have so many people against Islam because their wouldn’t be the vile stuff added to the "good" stuff. Thankfully most Muslims I personally know are good Muslims who lead their lives according to the basic tenets, but they don’t make up a very high percentage of Muslims in the world. When you have Muslims in Islamic countries following the vile parts of Islam then there is cause for concern because they are influencing people to follow these outdated and barbaric laws.

People who criticize Mohammad have a problem and do not understand the real Mohammad

they are either so biased and full of hate or are just not making a fair comparison

e.g. they say Mohammad is a man of war bu Jesus is a "man" of peace

will they forget that Mohammad refused to fight for 14 years in spite of unbearable persecution. But when he became head of an emerging state what choice does state has but to fight to defend its existence.

they forget that the total years Jesus’ mission was less than 3 years some say maybe a year. Even though he said I did not come with peace I came with a sword; but he never had the chance to carry the sword. But when he does in his second return what is he going to do with that sword tell me???
