I know Emperor should inspire me to write Black Metal, but whenever I listen to them I just feel like Black Metal has already been stretched to it’s full potential and all Black Metal after it will therefore suck.

Gorgoroth = just another metal band among many others, trying to stand out with lyrics about Satan or whatever.
Corpse paint, blood, upside down crosses and all that make an image, but they don’t make the music!!!
Emperor is and always will be remembered, respected, worshiped even, for their music, for the true masterpieces they created, not for the corpse paint and/or Satan praising lyrics. Their music does/did the “talking”, not their image.
