Fanúshi Khiyál

On ancient avenues the pilgrims come,
The box perched on their shoulders; it is lit
By candlelight that pierces through the dark.
And there, upon the fragile round they move ―
The painted shadow figures one by one,
In orbit and illumined by the flame,
Yet with no name, transmuting, will become
On each turn of the slow-revolving wheel
Transformed, as if the one where they now went
Had disappeared instead, and they’d become
This other pilgrim on an endless trail
That disappears around the farthest limb.
And where the light itself seems dim and dies
Arise the archetypes we’ve seen before,
Some low and forked, and others proud as kings,
Each slightly altered yet much as before,
All caught up in the endless sad parade
And pageantry within their tiny frame
Until the candle at the very heart,
Which lights the long procession, melts away
And all the darkness of the outer world
Becomes as one with what is in the box,
An empty socket where the warmth still clings
Until this sacred thing of light and dark
And purpose to the world is borne anew.

Dull, dreary, dismal, disappointing and dire.

I’m doing a paper which I need some examples of the different archetypes in literature, biblical, fiction, nonfiction, as long as it’s a book it doesn’t matter. And I don’t need mentor examples but I do need the others. Threshold guardian, trickster, herald, shapeshifter, shadow and ally. And I need at least three examples. Thanks!

Archetypes can be found in nearly all forms of literature, with their motifs being predominantly rooted in folklore. William Butler Yeats completed an automatic writing with his wife (Georgie) Hyde-Lees. This book A Vision contains an interesting mapping and list of 28 archetypes by these characters’ will and fate. Tarot cards depict a system of archetypes used for divination of a persons’ fate or story.[citation needed] Also the No plays of Japan, the characters skillfully depicted with exaggerated expression and elaborate costume clearly portray a system of archetypes. William Shakespeare is known for creating many archetypal characters that hold great social importance in his native land. Falstaff, the bawdy, rotund comic knight; Romeo and Juliet, the ill-fated ("star-crossed") lovers; Richard II, the hero who dies with honor; and many others. Although Shakespeare based many of his characters on existing archetypes from fables and myths (e.g., Romeo and Juliet on Arthur Brooke’s Romeus and Juliet), Shakespeare’s characters stand out as original by their contrast against a complex, social literary landscape. For instance, in The Tempest, Shakespeare borrowed from a manuscript by William Strachey that detailed an actual shipwreck of the Virginia-bound 17th-century English sailing vessel Sea Venture in 1609 on the islands of Bermuda. Shakespeare also borrowed heavily from a speech by Medea in Ovid’s Metamorphoses in writing Prospero’s renunciative speech; nevertheless, the unique combination of these elements in the character of Prospero created a new interpretation of the sage magician as that of a carefully plotting hero, quite distinct from the wizard-as-advisor archetype of Merlin or Gandalf. Both of these are likely derived from priesthood authority archetypes, such as Celtic Druids, or perhaps Biblical figures like Abraham, Moses, etc.; or in the case of Gandalf, the Norse figure Odin.

I need help understanding Jungian Psychology. I’ve read a book about it, but I still have questions on particular topics due to how the book presented the material in a very complicated fashion. I have trouble understanding what an archetype is and also what Jungian’s view on unconsciousness is. I also do not understand the characters that Jungian created that appear in your dreams. These are characters such as the "Shadow" or "Anima/Animas" I just have trouble understanding what Jungian Psychology is and what Jungian’s theory is about the unconscious. Thanks for reading and reflecting!
Oh yes, I almost forgot. Please do explain the answer to these questions thoroughly in comprehensible English language that could be easily understood by a person absolutely new to the psychology world . Thanks!

An archetype is a psychological impression one has of their self. It is a role one fills. Such as the role of Mother, Father, teacher, peace keeper, etc. If you were to have a child you would naturally assume the role of parent. It would change you, make you different.

The unconscious can be likened to the mind, or self, existing as two subjects. We exist in our awake, conscious world where we openly perceive reality around us. We are not fully conscious of everything our senses absorb. What we are not conscious of hides in our unconscious mind. That unconscious mind is represented to us with symbols and images in our dreams. Sometimes it comes out in conscious life. Ever said or done something, and you’re not sure why you did that? It was not a conscious choice. A mentally ill person may go through their "awake" life where there unconscious mind, the dreaming mind, is in control. So they do and say odd things, mistaking reality for fantasy.

Jung said that when an original thought has stemmed from your unconscious, that may be said to be genius.

This unconscious mind is trying to awaken as the rest of your mind has. Imagine if you will that you are a primitive human, incapable of understanding all you see and feel, as we humans still are. Imagine that it is very difficult to understand the world around you at all. Now imagine that human beings use symbology throughout their whole lives. These words you are reading as all comprised of symbols. 26 of them to be exact. They are just images and symbols. We make tonic vibrations in our vocal chords to convey meaning. We use the symbology of language to convey meaning. Now this primitive man has also used images and symbols, just not as sophisticated as we use today. This primitive man still resides in us. He is our bush spirit, our Shadow. He is the weird places in our mind we fear to tread. He is our wicked intentions. So Jung says we must face the Shadow, so that we can become complete. This primitive mind that resides in us all, this Shadow, using primitive symbology to convey the meanings of things it doesn’t understand fully, may see ghosts, spirits, supernatural occurrences. This explains our inherent fear of the unknown, and of things such as ghosts, even for people who do not believe in ghosts at all! The ghosts, the supernatural, is in our mind. Jung did however believe in God and the supernatural.

Our Anima/Animae is our feminine and masculine side It is named for the part of the brain that creates dreams. Men have an Animae, a feminine aspect of their mind. This is also known as your bush spirit if I’m not mistaken. Women have an Anima, the masculine, bush spirit, aspect of their mind.

My understanding of Jung is limited at best. I hope this helps. If you like, listen to the song Forty Six and Two by Tool. That song is about growing two extra chromosomes. As it stands, human beings have forty four and two chromosomes. Forty four autosomes and two sex chromosomes. It was the "strange" author, Drunvalo Melchizedek who spoke of growing two more chromosomes in his book The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life Volumes I and II. Chimpanzees have forty six and two chromosomes, and there are human beings that have forty six and two chromosomes. It is a condition known as Down’s Syndrome. So I don’t think we’ll evolve higher with that, but it’s a good song. I mention it because Maynard also sings about stepping into his Shadow, coming out the other side. There is also the song, and album of the same name by Tool called AEnima. Just a way Jung was represented in art.

The Elemental Heroes have no place here
I’d say take out all the DD as well.

Get 3 raiza, 3 caius and 2-3 Mobius.
You’ll need 2 cyber dragons
1 treeborn
1 foolish burial
3 mystic tomatoes
1 spirit reaper
1 dandy

That’s a good start to a tourney-worthy Monarch deck. Yours isn’t good at all. With monarchs you want to focus on getting treeborn frog in the grave and locking the field down in your favor. Monster Reincarnation is a good choice as you can dump dandylion or treeborn frog and get back a monarch to re-use. What you want to do is focus on special summoning so that you can normal summon your monarchs. Your deck will have a VERY hard time doing this and wont win against any half-way decent Blackwing or Saber deck. In fact, you may have a hard time playing against lower tier decks as well.

this changed a lil from last time because i’ve relistened/listened to a few albums.
they’re albums, not songs.

I like where you placed "Enter The Wu-Tang", It’s a classic but I don’t think it is a Top10 even 20. On the other hand, "Low and Theory" should be much higher (closer to the top) on your list (or on mine I gotta say), in my opinion it is one of the most close to the concept of perfection, as well as "Deltron 3030" (67th quite low).

61 The Cold Vein (higher)
85 I Phantom (higher)
86 Death Certificate (higher)

4 Reasonable Doubt (lower)
10 Resurrection (lower)
17 Tical (a lot lower)

"Hell On Earth" should’t be there, the same for "Blueprint" I hate it. Nice list though.

1. The 3 Magicians [Productivity]
–> 1 magician symbolizes spiritual intelligence (symbolizing height or stature)
–> 1 magician symbolizes emotional intelligence (symbolizing width or magnitude / duration)
–> 1 magician symbolizes intellectual intelligence (breadth which symbolizes mortality but in actuality it should be depth which symbolizes degree)
This marks an unwritten conflict between how one accumulates information and how they understand it
–> 4th magician who does appear in the play symbolizes physical action
–> The 3 magicians try to perform magic spells to change the emperor’s life for the better,
but none of their magic tricks work…
–> The emperor believes it’s because they are arguing with each other
–> But the reasl reason is because they did not call upon the 4th magician symbolizing action who unifies the 3 magicians together

2. Paradise of Nod [Innocence]
–> About lost innocence
–> Written in archaic biblical form and language
–> In this story all of nature is a script
–> The insect speaks of "nervous system sprouts out vines of tingling emotions."
"each skeleton’s eyes protruded through the shadows like they once knew."
"Creeping along like scared insects."
–> The trees speak
–> the spirituaist pagan absorbs the energy that seeps from these different entities in the forest
–> He / She is being trained by an ancient sorceress in the art of warfare and warcraft

3. Bring Sum wad Kingdoms Cum Laude [Surrender]
[Self-Justification]
–> The kingdom of the world is being sacrificed to oblivion
–> There is a hidden box with the name of all the people needed to build a secret battle ship outside
–> They must assemble the correct people together to build this secret ship before it is too late
–> They are given cues about where the box is hidden and the cues are to be interpreted according to their own oracles
–> A Greek who speaks in Greek language interprets the hidden riddles
–> An egyptian who speaks in the tongues of ancient egypt interpets the riddles
–> A babylonian who speaks in the tongues of babylon interprets the riddle
–> A persian who speaks in the tongues of persia interprets the riddles
–> A chaldean who speaks in the tongues of chaldea interprets the riddles
–> they each interpret the cues according to their own oracles to finish the unwritten matieral but
it’s their beliefs and bias that prevent them from interpreting the cues correctly
–> Every time they make an error in interpretation the box is hidden deeper and becomes harder to find
–> It marks the struggles of somebody who justifies himself by denying truths that are difficult to grasp
and how they are doomed to interpret perfection through an unclean vessel

4. Mixing the Perfect Maker [Purity]
(Vanity)
–> Intoxications of Love
–> Archetypes of love
–> Steretypes of Love
–> Principles of Love
–> Bartender who mixes drinks and each drink symbolizes an emotional indulgence
–> Then one discusses the problems, and conflicts that arise from each emotional indulgence
–> There is a disabled hedge fund trader who describes love in algebraic terms, where each greek goddess symbolizes a different term
–> Human beings are described by the art and principles of design
–> The hedge fund trader analyzes the conflicts of each independent interpretation and the logical and wisdom fallacies of each inconotation

5. Church of Livestock [Honesty]
–> About the ecclesiastical issues that effect religious corruption
–> Read a traditional catholic style book on religious corruption to get ideas
–> How a self-proclaimed hypocrites views himself and how he tries to change
–> The story is told like characters on a chess game
–> To checkmate the the black king, is to tell others the truth willingly
–> To checkmake the white king is to tell others the truth unwillingly
–> A man struggles with himself and with others to retain the perfect image and tell the honest truth

6. Realm of Glee and Idolatry [Egocentrism]
–> The anarchal chaos of the aztecs and the incas is explained
–> humans become barbaric and insiduous in their worship of one another
–> People behave like animals and view the world the way job does
–> The writins are inspiried by the teachigns of job
–> Every time they engage in an act of wickedness, they are punished…
–> The nemesis of their punishment causes them to be turned from their wicked ways
–> They continue to face punishment over and over again until they are cured from their wickedness

7. Art of Darkness [Generosity]
–> Confessions of Paul on why he became an apostle
–> His legal career
–> His brutalized childhood
–> The sexual pleasures he gets from hurting others
–> The car

YES. very much so, I kind of fancy two in particular though.

Paradise of Nod
and
Art of Darkness

Please try and see your ambitions to fruition, so I can witness the plays in the (hopefully) near future.

This is a VERY rough draft, completely unedited so the grammar may be off. RATE 1-10

I woke up in a state of panic. I could feel beads of sweat forming on the back of my neck. It took me a moment to realize that it was a dream, not reality. I sat upright in my bed for a moment, churning over the quickly fading details of my nightmare in my mind before getting up and walking over to my bathroom. I turned on the light and squinted, waiting for my eyes to adjust. I leaned over the sink, and looked in the mirror at my tired face. When was the last time I slept through the night? It must have been weeks, and it was obvious. My usually hazel eyes had faded to a muted brown color, accompanied by dark bags. The discolored puffy lids that hung over my bloodshot eyes contrasted with my pale skin and freckles, only making my sleep deprivation more obvious.

I turned on the faucet and let the water run for a few seconds, absentmindedly running my fingers through the stream. Leaning in, I splashed the cool water onto my face, and then turned off the faucet. I grabbed a hand towel from under the sink and patted my face dry. After standing in the fluorescent light of the bathroom for a few more seconds I turned around, flipped the light switch back down, and walked over to my bed

I lay down and closed my eyes tightly, as if doing so would somehow help me concentrate. I kept seeing green eyes. They were perfectly in focus, but their owner was not. They looked like two emeralds suspended in a shadow. That wasn’t the scary part of dream though, more like the only comfort in it. After another few moments of thought I remembered that there was a scream, it averted the emerald eyes from me… left me alone. I quickly pulled out my journal hoping that if I wrote down what I could remember, more would come. As I wrote, small details began to reappear in my mind, and the faded memory became more in focus. After I wrote until no more new memories came I put my journal back in my nightstand drawer and lay back down. I stared up at the speckled white ceiling trying to remember more. I closed my eyes again and started to see the fuzzy remnants of a room.

It was a pale yellow room, not unlike my own, but instead of a TV, night table, and modest queen sized bed inside it, there was a huge white canopy bed with no other furniture. Next to the canopy, stood a blurry figure; the one with the green eyes, but the figure wasn’t the only person in the room. I could hear someone breathing behind me, but for some reason, I didn’t turn around. That was when I woke up.

I figured I might as well stay awake since my dreams wouldn’t let me sleep anyway. I got up off my bed and walked out of my bedroom into the hallway leading to my tiny insufficient kitchen. Passing the electric stove and fridge I looked straight ahead at the computer. The “office” was just a tiny alcove in the kitchen that my mom designated as the “computer area.” She had fit a clear glass desk into the nook, but instead of a wall behind it, there was a large window that overlooked the backyard. The only item on the desk was my massive, outdated computer. I contemplated chucking it in exchange for a laptop, but that thought was fleeting. I looked up past the computer and stared out the window. I couldn’t see anything, but I still stared, as if I could.

I pressed the glowing on button on my computer, watched it change from red to electric green, and waited for the screen to awaken from sleep. I opened up my browser and clicked on my email. No new messages. It wasn’t surprising; I had only last checked it a few hours ago. I opened up my music player and turned on a slow melodic song. Ignoring my empty inbox I typed dream symbolism into the search bar at the top of the page. After about an hour or so of reading about archetypes and the inner-self I gave up and resorted to watching TV. I walked back through the kitchen and into the living room. I groped the wall trying to find the light switch in the darkness and turned it on. Even though I’d lived there for two years I was always a little shocked by the red walls. After a moment of adjustment to the new light I walked lazily over to the fire place and turned on the gas. I watched the inside left corner of the fake wood waiting for the gas to ignite. As it did, quickly sweeping from the left corner over to the right with a sizzle, I began to feel its heat emanating from the barrier of glass in front of it. I decided not to watch TV. I was content with my warm little fire so I lay down on my back, put my feet up to the glass, and tried to unwind. My tired mind began to daydream and I relaxed my muscles in the warmth of the fire. I placed my hands behind my neck and tilted my head into my left palm toward the balcony.
There were the eyes.

10. That was amazing.
Much better than any of the books I have been reading lately!
I wish you would publish this so I could read more!

in relation to Jungs dark archetype, The Shadow…..

According to Jung, the shadow, in being instinctive and irrational, is prone to project: turning a personal inferiority into a perceived moral deficiency in someone else. Jung writes that if these projections are unrecognized The projection-making factor (the Shadow archetype) then has a free hand and can realize its object if it has one or bring about some other situation characteristic of its power. These projections insulate and cripple individuals by forming an ever thicker fog of illusion between the ego and the real world.

Jung also believed that in spite of its function as a reservoir for human darkness or perhaps because of this the shadow is the seat of creativity.

So i think the best way to describe my shadow would be that it is the dark side of me, in my case..
