Archive for Limiting Beliefs
Why do liberals and progressives think their beliefs are the same as the founding fathers?
Do they not know that liberal and progressive means changing away from the the founding principals and the founding principals were free market capitalism, individual rights, limited government, and a moral society? If you have the beliefs of the founding you are not a liberal.
How would they know, they never read the Federalist Papers or the Constitution
What are some of the stereotypes you know of regarding culture, faith, beliefs, countries, people and things?
I want to know of all the stereotypes people know. I don’t mean to offend anyone I am curious and this will help me out with a project of mine. I want to know stereotypes about people, races, genders, religions, faiths, beliefs, intelligence, politics, countries etc, etc, etc. Nothing is off limits here and don’t worry about being judged, i won’t do that to you kind folk, this is a learning experience. So feel free to say whatever, just as long as its a stereotype.
The following are common stereotypes and are not necessarily the opinion of the contributor:
Asians are good at math
Irish are heavy drinkers

How can I use the Secret or law of attraction to make my life sweet?
Im trying to do what the power book said; look for things I love, be positive, end limiting beliefs, and send out good energy. My life is pretty good but I wanna be happy and use my knowledge of these things to the fullest. Have u read the power or the secret? What are some things I could start doing?
Thanks. =D
All things in the universe are made up of energy. Every living thing, every non-living thing, every manmade thing, every human being each consists of energy. This energy is always moving and flowing. The energy that you want to attract from the universe is positive energy.
No matter what you want you can ask the universe to deliver it. Some way it will be delivered to you. The first step in the process is to understand the Law of Attraction. Most people create a good deal of negative energy. Unfortunately this only serves to bring you more of the same.
Remodeling our Nation
Have you ever done a remodeling job in your house? Remember the experience, the frustration??? This is how it usually starts for me, I start to get an idea about a project that I want to do because I have become tired of the décor or it is outdated and old and needs remodeling. I can’t help but think that this is what we find ourselves in as the changes in our financial system and those around the world are collapsing. Ouch! That hurts to even write that. But we can not have that new room or new kitchen without tearing everything down and replacing everything. Is that not what we are facing globally? Remember what it was like during the construction? If you have never done a remodeling project let me give you a brief synopsis. The wonderful idea usually at some point turns into what feels like a disaster and a never ending project. As you live in the dust and the mess of the debris (if you have not been smart enough to move out) you start to question your sanity and “what were you thinking!”
Well this is what is happening and the harsh reality is evident every day as we open the newspaper and read the headlines and watch the news on television. As much as this creates a sense of anxiety and angst in me I can’t help but correlate this to my remodeling projects. How will we have something better if we do not tear the old down and replace it with the new? We are beginning to read the financial analysis of our current state of affairs and all the information points to this same fact. If we are to resurrect out of the ruble of this disaster then we must do away with the old in order to have something better.
As this is all happening on the larger scale of our world, each and every one of us is a world unto ourselves. I once heard the phrase, “You do not exist in the universe the universe exists in you.” Think about this for a moment. If we really understood what this means we would realize that the key to changing what is happening around us really begins with ourselves.
This has never been more evident to me on an individual level as it has been these past few weeks. Call it coincidence or call it the astrological influences or plain old it was time to tear things down in my head. Yes, I had started a remodeling project on myself, one that started many years ago on my path to self discovery and spiritual enlightenment. Except that this project has been long in the making and as with all remodeling projects it came with its usual dose of frustration and delays in the time line. Hindered by procrastination and denial, continued endulgement of limiting beliefs, fears that no longer served me, lack of self confidence etc. etc. Sound familiar? Yes very much like the remodeling project. At times questioning whether I REALLY could change. Was it really worth it, was I ever going to accomplish becoming the person that I envisioned myself to be, that I want to be. Well as in the remodeling project somehow you manage to get through it with the final result being that beautiful new room or kitchen and even though you swear you will never do one again when it is finally complete you finally stand back and admire the end result. Then you realize it was worth it after all. Yes we are having to do the same with our financial systems and on a more individual level we do not realize the power that we hold to actually influence what is happening on a macrocosmic level. We must begin with the universe within ourselves and evaluate how am I handling money, what is my relationship with money , what are my thoughts about money , do I feel that there is enough or am I constantly thinking ,” I do not have enough.” How am I handling my energy resources? What kind of relationships am I in, am I in relationships that nurture me and feed me or suck the energy out of me? What am I doing to create more energy for myself, am I exercising and eating right to fuel my body with healthy energy. Where am I being wasteful, am I not appreciating the things in my life or constantly bemoaning my circumstances or am I utilizing every opportunity that presents itself to me as a challenge to grow and become better. How am I valuing myself? Do I see myself as a valuable individual with something to offer? Do these questions not also reflect the issues we are dealing with globally? Think about it. I mean really think about it and the implications of this.
Do I want this world to change? We must begin to ask ourselves these hard questions and tear down the old and it needs to begin with each and every one of us. It has been a painful process at times for me; I can’t say that there is any easy way to change things about yourself there is no magic wand. There is only the will and the determination.
This financial crisis is painful, at times a remodeling project is painful but eventually with that will and determination we can emerge as new individuals, as a new nation.

Authentic Marketing (and Success) Require You to Look Within
Let’s face it: being self-employed, our businesses are fundamentally a reflection of every part of us. It’s not like working for a corporation where you don’t really control the outcome of the business unless you’re at the top. Who you and I “are” as people literally affects our businesses, every day, every minute, every second, with every breath.
Knowing that the “inner” is directly reflected in the “outer,” it’s especially so for those working solo. If there’s turmoil or disconnection within you as a person, it will be reflected in your business. If there’s purpose, acceptance, and alignment, things come to you without struggle.
For me personally, this past year has been a year of reflection and re-gearing for the next level of my business, almost an incubation phase. I’ve come to the realization that I needed to stop listening to so many OTHER people’s opinions of the next journey for my business and needed to look inside. And that included seeing what’s authentic, what my purpose is, and what I’m here to do with my clients. It’s been about healing the past GUNK that’s often stopped me and about strengthening WHO I am as a person, to then best fulfill what I’m here to do (and create an even more delicious business doing it).
Years ago, I thought that attracting clients was 100% about fancy marketing. I was wrong. The longer I am in business and the longer I work on my own spiritual and personal growth, the more I’ve gotten clear that attracting clients and having the business of your dreams is actually more a 3-slice pie. Sure, Marketing is one of those slices, and a very important one (hey, you’ve got to take ACTION to attract clients. No excuses).
But, the other two slices of the pie are not always talked about openly. Honestly, I haven’t always talked about them in public either, for fear of sounding a little too “Woo Woo”, if you know what I mean. Most times I would just hint at them, hoping people would read between the lines and get the point. However, I’d be cheating you if I didn’t tell you more about those two other slices to Client Attraction success, because they’re so important.
If marketing is one slice of the pie, Manifesting is another. And by manifesting, I mean the Law of Attraction, what you focus on with great feeling, you attract into your existence. At its most basic, here’s how it can be described: If you’re continually focusing on having a full practice of yummy clients who pay you what you’re worth, then you will start to attract that. If you’re focusing rather on the LACK of clients and you’re ticked off that people aren’t paying you what you’re worth, then you will attract that also (meaning, not having those clients or not making enough). Simple, yet very powerful.
But, the other slice of the pie that rarely gets airtime is the Personal Growth slice: Clearing out the cobwebs. I’m talking about not worrying what people think as much and being willing to look within to either heal or change the things about you that stop you from being the successful person you were meant to be. It’s about being authentic and taking a really hard look at all the baggage and the unfounded fears you’ve carried around since childhood (trust me, I have them too) and doing something about it.
So, what are we searching for when we go within?
Fears, limiting beliefs, negative emotions, and other unresolved stuff like shame and resentments. The reason it’s so important to look within is that if that stuff is still lingering in your system, you have a more difficult time “manifesting” what you say you want. The fears and other unresolved stuff get in the way of you attracting what you wish for and essentially negate and cancel your wishes. OUCH.
Now, I am not saying you have to run out and see a shrink. That hasn’t been the fastest path to growth for me personally. Rather, it’s about being honest with yourself, really honest, about who you are. And getting to KNOW who you are. Calling out your fears, putting them down on paper. It’s about writing down the things you say to yourself that stop you in your tracks. The more you get clear on this stuff, the more direct your impact on Client Attraction and having the business you really, really want.
It’s about being authentic with yourself, in life, in business, and in your marketing. The more authentic you are in your marketing, the more Client Attractive you become. Whether you call it Spiritual Marketing or Authentic Marketing, it’s super important, because if you don’t do anything about it, you’ll continue to get the same results you’re getting now. Now for some, that’s fine, but I’ll bet that you’re not willing to be living the exact same life 30 years from now, let alone 5 years from now. You probably want an even better situation and you want your wishes granted sooner than later.
Now, you could choose not to do anything about it and choose not to look inside. That’s what I did for a long time. I was really good at avoidance and denial. But what I’ve found happens if you ignore the “growth” slice is that you keep struggling on some levels, wondering why things you want aren’t coming to you faster. It can all seem to be an uphill battle and it can become really frustrating, making you want to throw in the towel and give up your business.
Well, when I started doing personal growth and becoming more authentic many years ago, the struggle started fading away and EASE started showing up. And the more I look at my long-ingrained fears and work on the other gunk that’s previously slowed the next level of success I’ve imagined, the more that success shows up for me.
It’s a process I continue ruthlessly, and help my clients with as well. Yeah, we talk about SERIOUS marketing, but this stuff too, because it all works. And it certainly pays off, in more ways than one. Sure, lots of clients and greater 1ncome are the payoffs, but you also get freedom, joy, and ease as a byproduct. That’s the real payday, if you ask me.
Your Assignment: Begin by making the decision to look within and be honest about what you find. If you resist it, it will persist. Make a list of the fears and limiting beliefs, the old junk you’ve avoided or that keeps coming up and clogging the pipeline to the success you so dearly want. Be willing to take the same no-excuses approach we talk about with Client Attraction Marketing, and apply it to this as well. It takes a little courage at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets. I know you can do it and the results will astound you. I promise.

There is Only One Person You Can Change or Improve in the Universe and That Person is You
CREATE A SUCCESFUL LIFE BY CHANGING YOUR PERSONALITY
‘ You are what you eat”‘ so the saying goes. Your physical body is made by what you eat. In the same way to achieve spiritual growth you need to feed your mind and spirit with the proper diet that is the material you read, what you listen to and what you believe in.
There is only one person you can change or improve in the universe and that person is you. God gave us the power of choice and you can choose to have a pleasant personality.
Do this small exercise: Close your eyes for at least a minute and visualize what kind of a person you would like to be. Then write down whatever emerges and practice it for today only.
Try to get an accurate picture in your mind, even if you consider it’s fulfillment in reality impossible. You must develop within you a new knowing that you have the capacity through your spiritual self to create any change that you can conceive of for yourself. To change your mentality, you have to first create space in your mind by getting rid of the self limiting beliefs that have been instilled in you and that you have entertained for long. Once you have gotten rid of this beliefs then you can relearn new ways of thinking. Remember as a man Thinketh so he is.
The beliefs you have to get rid of are summarised below :
1. I cannot change this is me and that’s the way I am instead have a ‘can do it attitude’: It took me some time to get rid of this habit. I would constantly tell my husband that is the way I am and it almost cost me my marriage. I was a hard nut to crack, but then I realised I wasn’t hurting him but myself. If you find yourself believing that you must always be the way you are, you are arguing with growth.
I also thought I was introvert and I was so fearful of almost everything including speaking to people in any gathering. I would come late and leave early to avoid contact with people, I didn’t even have friends except my sisters and maybe if there is an area in life where we would meet more often then you would be my friend. But after so much soul searching and reading books especially Dr Wayne Dyer and Steve Pavillana I changed my way of thinking and it bore fruits. I have many friends and I’m more courageous and I believe I add value to the people I meet.
You must create a knowing within that you have the power to create whatever kind of a person you want to become, in all areas of your life.
You were not borne a coward, shy or even an angry person but very empty and these characteristics developed as you met and socialised with family and friends. Being Kind, Generous, bold, Loving and other good virtues can be developed right now in your life. Take a day at a time. Try today to be different that is all that you wish to be and see the change coming in. All things are possible through Christ who give us strength.
2. The second self defeating belief you need to get rid of is ” It’s in my genes, I inherited it from…. its in our blood there is nothing I can do about it
Some time back at home, My only brother was very difficult and we wondered where he would have picked the habit of drinking and smoking from apart from his peers. But then we concluded that relatives from my dad’s side at that age got difficult and out of hand. We started giving examples of relatives we knew who were just like my brother and thought we had solved the problem by believing it was hereditary.
My advise on this issue is that let your inheritance be physical only and not spiritual. Do not blame it on the genes. The spirit has no limitation but our bodies do. You can have your mother eye’s, your father’s nose or your grandmother’s ears and let it stop at that.
When it comes to personal growth you can never inherit you choose to believe or to be like another.
In my country Kenya, there is a belief that there are three tribes that are short tempered, the Kisii’s(my tribe) The Kuria and Merus. You do not mess around with anyone from this three tribes or else you are dead meat. Well it’s a belief and so many have adopted this and needless to say they live in misery.
What is it that you have inherited that is limiting you. Get rid of it today!
Search within yourself and write down all the inherited habits in you and work towards eliminating them each day and see yourself grow to greater heights.
Do not forget that God is part of the change in you. Remember what Jesus said. ‘ If you obey my commandments My father and I will dwell in you, therefore be assured that Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.’
3. My family made me who I am today: So many people put blame on the way they were raised. I heard of a story of a son who became a thief and when he was finally caught for committing robbery with violence he was sentenced to death. He made a wish that he wanted to see his mother, his wish was granted and when his mother came, he told her he wanted to whisper something in her ears but instead he bit her so hard that the ear hang almost loose from the side. The reason he did this was because his mother did not teach him well or try to stop him whenever he did wrong.
Other people have grown up in poverty and due to the scarcity mind they become rough and even at times violent. Others who have grown in physical wealth have become arrogant and all this blame it on their upbringing.
It is time you realised that you will reap what you sow and not what your parents sowed in you. You cannot continue living a blame game and knowing that you have no role to play over your growth and change. As long as you are convinced that your family is responsible for the kind of person that you are today, you are trapped in that cycle. In as much as you cannot eliminate the influences that were very much your childhood, you and you alone decide whether they persist. If your family influences your behavior then you are not in control, they are controlling you and this could be disastrous to you because human beings are mortal beings and one day when they are gone you will have no one to look up to or blame for your attitude or behavior except yourself. We don’t want that time to come and that is why you have to take full charge of your life today and shake off any family influences that will destroy you.
4. My society, culture and times determines my personality. If you go by the waves and current trends, you are in for big trouble because you will never know who you are and define yourself as an individual in the society.
Who is your role mode, why are you living someone else life doing what they do, talking and walking like them and even dressing like them. You should take time from all these waves and trends to know who you are and your purpose in life otherwise time will go past very fast and before you know it you will be regretting abut everything.Everyone who has ever made a difference in the world has been an innovator. An innovator does not look at the cultural norms but looks within and allows his/her conscience and commitment to a purpose.Your thinking is yours, originating with you, the society in which you find yourself is simply the stage upon which you are acting out your miracles.

Critical Success Tip: Understanding Self-Defeat
Most of us try to find someone else – anyone else – to blame when we fail to attain the goals we claim to desire. However, the truth is we almost always hold ourselves back with self-defeating beliefs and limiting intentions.
If you pay attention to other people as they complain about goals not met, you’ll soon see clearly these individuals are actively sabotaging their own efforts. They probably aren’t aware of this, but the fact remains their thoughts and actions are in direct opposition to what they say they want.
And once you notice this trait in others, it won’t be hard to find it in yourself as well! If you always seem to be struggling in one or more areas of your life, yet you believe with great sincerity that you want success in these areas, it is highly likely some form of self-defeat or self-limiting beliefs and/or actions are at work.
I’ll give you an example from my own life to help put this whole concept into perspective. Today I’m an entrepreneur with a successful business; but a few years prior to this writing I lived in extreme poverty.
Let me be clear: When I say poverty I don’t mean I sometimes fell behind on my house payment. In fact I had no home at one time, and rarely (if ever) had a single dollar bill in my pocket!
Being completely broke was the normal state of affairs for me. Looking back I wonder how I managed to eat.
Anyway at some point I decided being dirt poor was no fun. I made up my mind to become a successful entrepreneur and generate lots of money doing things I enjoy.
I attained marginal success within a couple of years. But I soon hit an invisible ceiling and found myself unable to move beyond a certain level of income.
Money came and went sporadically. I often had to deplete my savings account to survive, and it seemed absolutely impossible to make a real breakthrough and enjoy sustained comfort and prosperity.
After going through this for some time I began to look closely at myself. Knowing that my results were the reflections of my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, I determined I could assess my state of mind to discover exactly what stood in the way of my desired success.
What I found was shocking. Over time I realized that whenever I thought about or spoke of large sums of money, I experienced a number of negative symptoms!
For instance, I might say I wanted to earn $10,000 within the next 30 days. Perhaps I would even write this down on my project board.
But as I talked about this amount of money, wrote it down, and tried to visualize myself receiving it, I became highly agitated. I sank into an instant and deep state of depression, my heart rate accelerated considerably, and I even became physically sick at my stomach!
Intellectually, emotionally, and even physically I was rejecting the idea of breakthrough success. And because I simply could not create a positive state of mind around the idea of big money it was literally impossible for me to manifest it.
On the rare occasions when I did create a major cash windfall, a problem would quickly arise to drain my funds. I was stuck in a viscous poverty cycle.
Why did I put myself through this?
For one thing, it’s likely I didn’t feel worthy of true success. My whole life had been spent in poverty, so who did I think I was trying to play a role that didn’t fit me?
Also the prospect of drastic change terrified me. I understood lack, scarcity, and struggle; but I had no idea how to cope with abundance, comfort, and plenty.
All of this may sound bizarre to you. But my story is not unique.
The fact is many people suffer from similar self-defeatist thinking and emotional states. Again, if you claim to want success in a particular area but inexplicably find yourself falling short despite your best efforts you should take a close and honest inventory of your daily thoughts and feelings.
Simply becoming aware of your own self-limiting thoughts and beliefs will go along way toward breaking the spell, so to speak. Once you see what is going on, you can challenge your mindset and shift it to a more desirable focal point.
The quickest, most effective method for overcoming this sort of deeply rooted self-defeat is the application of positive affirmations. Create a set of strong statements to counter your destructive beliefs and read these positive suggestions several times each day.
In my case, I created affirmations like: “Money loves to be around me. I always have more than enough money. I deserve the money I receive from multiple sources and I have fun spending it.”
As I repeated these positive suggestions over and over, day in and day out, my unconscious mind began to shift on its axis. Confident repetition literally programs the human mind in the same way valid source code teaches a computer system how to think and behave.
With sincere intention, self-awareness, and diligent affirmation I permanently dissolved my self-defeating thought patterns and attained the success I deserve. Certainly if I can do this, anyone else can as well!
