Alternative Choice!
One of things that I have learned from sales courses is that when I try to make an appointment with a potential client, I always give him at least two options. And most people will limit themselves to those two options. They rarely think beyond those options. If they cannot make it, then I offer the next available options.
For example, if I were to ask someone for an appointment, I would ask him whether he could make it at 3pm Tuesday or 10am Thursday. Even though I may have other available timeslots, I would not offer them the other timeslots. The objective is to make the person to focus and commit to an appointment.
Try observing salesperson around you. When they try to fix an appointment with you, do they resort to this technique?
I always wander why does this technique work most of the time. Finally, I understand that our mind has a tendency to limit ourselves to belief.
When I give a person two choices even though there are more choices, most people will automatically limit them to the belief that there are only two choices. This is more apparent in a scenario where there is only one choice.
For instance, the law says that I need to have a driving license to drive a car. Though I knew how to drive a car but I had failed to renew my license. Normally, I would feel that I have only one choice or rather no choice. That is I could not drive a car. But if I encounter an emergency where I need to run for my life by driving off or need to send someone to hospital by driving, then there seemed to be an alternative choice of driving without a license.
I am not telling you to break any law. What I am trying to highlight is that there are always alternative choice. Whether or not the alternative choice is a good choice, you have to be aware of the consequences and decide for yourself.
This ability to see the alternative choice is very important to get out of mental traps created by our own limiting beliefs. Next time if you feel that you are trapped by a mental situation, always examine carefully. There bound to be an alternative way out.
The idea that I will like to share with you:
If you think hard enough, there is always an alternative choice.

Is it true that soul mates have a 4 year age difference?
I heard that usually soul mates have a 4 year age difference, and there’s this one guy that’s actually 4 years younger than me, but we seem to eat the same food everyday, have so many things in common and all, and it just seems kinda strange, you know, so just wondering if it’s true or not.
No. Duh.
Who would be the bad guy turned good/vice versa in ff7?
I’m doing a project on archetypes in my english class and was wondering who in Final Fantasy 7 the original game would be a shape-shifter (you know good guy goes bad or bad guy goes good) so far i have:
Cloud = hero (duh)
Zack, Aerith, and Tifa = mentors
Sephiroth = Shadow (villian)
Rufus Shinra and the Turks= the threshold keepers (the handiemen)
And now i’m stuck on the shapeshifter(s)
please help!!! ![]()
The best answers would either be that Sephiroth is a shapeshifter (as he was formerly a war hero but has gone mad and wants to destroy the world), or Cait Sith, who it turns out was actually a Shinra spy. Possibly even Yuffie, for stealing your materia.
Have you ever had regression therapy w/ Brian L Weiss?

I really want to but he isn’t currently accepting new patients.
What did you think of it? How much was it?
Thanks
Nope. I don´t believe in his methods.
What’s the point of reincarnation if you can’t remember your past lives?
I don’t see a difference between living a single life, and living a thousand lives but only remembering one.
There is no point. Also, for the record nirvana does not mean bliss or heaven.
It means the blowing out of the flame of desire.
The entire purpose of the karma/reincarnation cycle is to rid oneself of desire and cease to be. Wanting bliss just flies in the face of the whole thing.
The laws of karma and reincarnation are man made and wretched.
If you travel to a places in the world where people truly believe, you will find the true nature of it and how it holds people in it’s grip.
Thanks to lack of education and with the help of men like Deepak Chopra,
Westerners have a very watered down idea of it.
Take for example a person that has caused much destruction – Hitler, for example, as his name always comes up. Karma and reincarnation teaches that upon his death, the bad karma he accumulated goes on into another life but the recipient has no idea of the weight they are carrying. Hitler’s soul could be reincarnated into another person, animal or insect. There are some people that wear mouth and nose coverings to avoid breathing someone in. (I’m not joking.)
In countries where karma rules the day and homeless children roam the street, other citizens do nothing to help them. Not because they are cruel but because the child has accumulated bad karma and they believe the sooner the child dies he can begin again. I saw a news article a few years back about a heartbroken mother that had lost her 13 year son to an early death. Just after the funeral, an iguana walked into her home. The photo showed her with tears rolling down her face as she held it – because she was convinced it was her son reincarnated.
I stronly suggest the book by Ravi Zacharais called "Jesus Among Other Gods". He was raised in India and has a clear understanding of these things – and he takes strong offense to the tripe dished out by Deepak Chopra
what do you think of my story?
It is a normal spring day, and I decide to have my lunch break in the local park, the weather is good, warm enough for summer clothes, yet not hot enough to complain about.
I sit on a bench under the shade of a tree, the wind blowing through the tree causing shadows to dance on the well-maintained lawn. The park is a hive of activity today, an assortment of people, professions and past times. A man walks past me in his well pressed business suit, he is not much younger than me, he is talking on his mobile phone, a little to loudly than necessary, trying to sound important to those in earshot of him, or trying to sound important to himself.
An elderly couple is sat on a picnic blanket on the lawn, there silver hair shinning in the afternoon sun, homemade sandwiches and cakes in brown paper bags, their faces are content, yet their eyes tell a different story, for after a life time of love, sharing and companionship, should one of them pass, the other would be truly alone.
A young female runner runs past them, her toned body a billboard for her generation, her even strides cushioned by the latest running shoes and designer sunglasses to block out the sun. Tight fitting running clothes, to either enhance her performance, or to leave those who look at her an object of desire, sexual and envious, covers her body.
She runs past a group of teenage school kids, as she passes the boys they mimic the bounce of her breasts with their hands, much to the annoyance of the girls who roll there eyes.
A young couple walk past hand in hand, smiles on their faces as they watch their young toddler kick a bright orange ball, he squeals with delight, his rosy cheeks and innocent eyes oblivious to the hardships he will one day face, but for now he is content will sugar coated treats and colourful images on the T.V.
A small bird takes my attention, a sparrow I think, he is doing a little hop type of dance in front of a cluster of bushes, he then darts into them, coming out with a small bug in his beak, he then flies up into a tree, He returns moments later to do the same thing again.
Yet the more I watch his antics the more I wonder about him.
I wonder if he is feeding his young, is this instinct that drives him to do this, or is it a parental love? Will he get frustrated if he cannot get enough food?
Will his little heart swell with pride when his young take flight for the first time? Does he know of love? Does his heart skip a beat when he sees his mate? Or will it break when one day she does not return? Does he know of fear? Will he cower in the treetops when a storm comes crashing down upon him? Does he know of racism? Do other birds treat him unkind because he is not the same breed as they? Does he know of joy? Will he sing that little bit better when the sun is shinning on a clear day? Does he know of God and the creation? Is he aware of me as i am of him, and knows of man, war and death?
If he is aware of all of these then I feel sorry for him, for why should he suffer the folly’s of man, and yet if he is not aware I am equally sorry for him for the wonder of life is a thing to behold and the joy and sorrow it brings is a thing to be shared by all.
Very sweet. Watch out for spelling/grammar mistakes – eg. "roll THEIR eyes" not "roll there eyes". Also try to avoid cliches such as "hive of activity" and "shadows dance" – try to come up with your own terms for these images.
The many rhetorical questions are a bit excessive, try to cut back on all the question marks by blending some of the questions together using "and" "or" or "yet", or even cut some out completely. Don’t over-emphasise the rhetorical questions so much.
Other then that, well done, very nice. I’m a final year Creative Writing student at uni, so I should know right?
